CECR gets a new toy to play with, a Google Chrome Notebook. (cr-48)
Woohoo! I’ts nerd heaven here at CECR. A google chrome notebook just arrived, and man am I excited. This will be the second chrome notebook, sadly the first one was defective.
For those of you who don’t know what Chrome OS is, here is a quick run down. Normally an operating system stores all of your information on your computer. When said computer has a problem, hardware fails, viruses attack, there is always a chance to lose your data. So google has taken a different approach, storing all of the information on their servers. You turn on your computer, it pulls up a very basic login menu, connects to their servers and downloads all your information. This is called cloud computing. (cloud being the servers that store your info.) It means that no matter what happens to your physical computer, you always have the same computer setup with the same information.
I will be doing a better review once I get more time to play around. But here are my first impressions.
- Very small
- Great keyboard
- Not in love with the trackpad. It seems to have a problem scrolling.
- The OS works good, boots up quick, and loads pages fast.
and to wrap it up, a few pictures. Let us know what you think!
